PhysioU has been a great addition to my courses. With the need for flexibility and change to more hybrid and online teaching and learning, PhysioU has made that easier for both students and faculty. I started using PhysioU in 2017. Initially an optional resource for students we now require it based on PhysioU content and student feedback. We frequently use the following apps in the foundational examination courses and in our Musculoskeletal course: Orthopedics, ROM/MMT/Palpation, Special Tests, Surface Anatomy/Palpation. We have also used the orthopedic apps to assist students in their clinical pattern recognition.
We have created lab prep documents that link to the specific skills in PhysioU. Students then prepare for labs using the videos which have enhanced lab time with more time for student practice and faculty and peer feedback versus demonstration. The videos support students when practicing psychomotor skills in and out of class. Apps used by other program faculty: Lines and Tubes, Cardiopulmonary, Physical Agents, Milestones, Assistive devices, and Gait. I anticipate with the ongoing content additions, revisions, and Simulations that our faculty will continue to expand our use. Our students continue to want face-to-face instruction, but overall students report that PhysioU is a great tool and has enhanced their ability to learn examination skills while in the program.
