Dr. Emmanuel Yung, PT, DPT, OCS, MA, FAAOMPT
Dr. Emmanuel Yung teaches musculoskeletal content as Clinical Assistant Professor, Doctor of Physical Therapy Program and Clinical Faculty, Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. He has been a practicing physical therapist for over 24 years. He has 2 published peer-reviewed journal articles and has made 23 peer-reviewed presentations nationally and internationally.
Professional services include: Manuscript Reviewer for Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy (JOSPT); Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) Item Writer, Specialization Academy of Content Experts, American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties; American Physical Therapy Association Orthopaedic Section Education Committee Moderator and Proposal Reviewer; Lead Reviewer for the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education; and sits on the Advisory Review Panel of the Research Committee of the American Academy of Orthopaedic and Manual Physical Therapists. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking with his family and their dog in the woodsy trails of New England.
Emmanuel Yung is Clinical Assistant Professor at Sacred Heart University (SHU) Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program teaching musculoskeletal content and is Clinical Faculty at SHU Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (PT) Residency Program. Prior to joining the SHU core faculty, he has been teaching musculoskeletal PT at Azusa Pacific University DPT program as an Adjunct Faculty. He was the Site Director and Clinical Faculty of the Orthopaedic PT Residency Program at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles (KPWLA), California where he mentored Orthopaedic PT residents for the past 10 years and guest lectured yearly to over 25 residents of 9 Kaiser Permanente and 5 other Southern California Orthopaedic PT Residency Programs (these programs include Cedars-Sinai, Healthcare Partners, Casa Colina, Fortanasce and Associates, and Glendale Adventist).
Dr. Yung has more than 19 years of musculoskeletal PT practice experience. At Kaiser, he was also the Coordinator for Clinical Education of physical therapy students from 8 Southern California PT schools (including University of Southern California, Azusa Pacific University, Mount Saint Mary’s College, Loma Linda University, California State University Long Beach, California State University Northridge, Western University, and University of Saint Augustine).
Dr. Yung graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of Southern California (USC), a Masters of Arts degree in Orthopedic Biomechanics from New York University, and a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Therapy from University of Santo Tomas. He is board certified as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) by American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and is a Full Fellow of the American Academy of Manual and Physical Therapists (AAOMPT), having graduated from the Southern California Kaiser Permanente Manual Therapy Fellowship program.
He has 2 published articles in peer-reviewed journals: Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy (JOSPT) and Journal of Hand Therapy, and has authored or co-authored 23 peer-reviewed orthopaedic and manual physical therapy presentations nationally and internationally. He is the Principal Investigator awarded by the American Academy of Orthopaedic and Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT) with the OPTP Research Grant in 2013.
Service to the profession includes: Manuscript Reviewer for JOSPT; in the APTA Orthopaedic Section as an appointed Education Committee Member tasked with Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) Orthopaedic Programming Proposal Reviewer and Moderator; Lead Reviewer for the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) Program Credentialing Services Committee; Specialization Academy of Content Experts OCS Item Writer for the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS); and Advisory Review Panel Member (duties include grants application review) of the Research Committee of the AAOMPT.
In addition, he previously served as: an Abstract Review Committee Member, International Federation of Orthopaedic and Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT) Conference 2012; an OCS Item Writing Workshop Attendee where 5 of his items were accepted for board certification exam question pool; a Reviewer for the Continuing Education Application Committee of the California Chapter of the APTA; and a presenter in a 1⁄2 day laboratory/practical manipulative course internationally on a pro-bono basis.
